Das Material Latex kann natürlich aus Kautschukbäumen gewonnen und für die Einweghandschuh-Produktion eingesetzt werden, im Gegensatz zu Nitril oder Vinyl, die aus künstlichen Rohstoffen bestehen. Latex bringt zudem außergewöhnliche natürliche Eigenschaften mit, so dass sich Latexeinweghandschuhe sehr weich an die Hand anpassen und im Tragekomfort sehr angenehm sind. Daher werden solche Einmalhandschuhe (und Fingerlinge) in Bereichen eingesetzt, in denen durch viele Prozesse und Tagesaufgaben hindurch Latexeinweghandschuhe getragen werden, wie in Kliniken und Gesundheitseinrichtungen, Arzt- oder Zahnarztpraxen, in Pflegeeinrichtungen, aber zum Teil auch in der Lebensmittelproduktion und -verarbeitung (bedingt, da Kreuzkontamination entstehen können; besser ist Nitril).
